ABOUT

I love complexity: finding the dark in the light and the light in the dark, playing characters caught in the clash of contradicting desires who fight to navigate between them. I'm the guy who's too smart for his own good, the leader who bites off more than he can chew, the man torn between ambition and conscience.

I became an actor so that I could explore those aspects of my personality that aren't acceptable in normal society: the coked-up assholes, the fucked-up shitheads, and the just plain weirdos. My training runs the gamut from Practical Aesthetics and improv, through Grotowski, Suzuki, and Viewpoints, all the way to Balinese Mask and Dance. I've studied with at least four legendary, honest-to-god theatrical geniuses and I do my utmost to make them proud.

I'm Canadian but I live in NYC. I love to travel, especially for work. I make a lot of my own work, usually under my banner Well-Drawn Dog: fourteen shorts, two features, two plays, and six feature scripts. I've done just about every job on a film set except hair, makeup, and wardrobe. I'm not my first choice for anything, but I'm my second choice for everything.

I'm pretty good at coming up with ideas, but I'm REALLY good at taking someone else's ideas and making them better. Want me to prove it? Contact me.

ABOUT

I love collaboration: working with a group of intelligent, opinionated, passionate people to make the complicated, simple; the simple, habitual; and the habitual, beautiful. I'm the guy who makes every team he's on better; the guy who leads by example; the guy who takes his work seriously and his self not. I'm the ethical alpha, the change agent, the irreverent advocate.

I became an actor because it's the only thing I've found that combines the intellectual, the physical, and the spiritual. The desires that drive me as an actor are the same that drove me into philosophy, into photography, and into sports: to explore the ethical and existential questions about what it means to be human; to step into someone else’s body and inhabit their world for a spell; to collaborate with a team so that everyone’s good ideas are made better; and to share what we create with beauty, grace, and humor.

In this broken world, the first step towards repair is learning to listen, empathize, and connect. As storytellers, we live at the intersection of those three traits, so we are uniquely positioned to help people laugh, grieve, understand, and above all, to come to see themselves with greater clarity. If what I've said resonates with you, please contact me: we just might be able to make something beautiful together.
